Fleadh Information Evening at Treacys West County

29 June 2016

An important information evening on Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for Ennis residents and business owners will be held at Treacys West County Hotel on Thursday 7th July from 7.30 – 9pm. Among those in attendance will be representatives of the Fleadh Executive Committee, An Garda Siochána, Clare County Council and various key agencies. The purpose of the meeting is to provide as much practical information as possible on the organisation of the Fleadh and how it will affect the lives of people from the 14th – 22nd August. The meeting will be addressed by Mícheál Ó Riabhaigh, Chairman of the Fleadh Executive Committee, Event Controller, Adrian Jackson and Eamonn O’Dea from Clare County Council among others.

“Presentations which will outline the organization of the Fleadh will be followed by a question and answer session during which we hope we can address as clearly as possible, issues and concerns that may be raised by those attending. No event attracting up to 400,000 people can be organised without some disruption and inconvenience. However, the Fleadh Committee is extremely grateful for the forbearance, tolerance and goodwill expressed by the public. It is very reassuring that so many people in Co. Clare not only are prepared to accommodate some inconvenience but are eagerly looking forward to the event. We want business owners and residents to enjoy the event too,” said Mr. Ó Riabhaigh.

Tables will be on site with personnel who will deal with the many and sometimes complex aspects of the Fleadh. This includes information points on Accommodation, Volunteers and Stewarding as well as Green Fleadh & Waste Management. There will be information on accessing the Fleadh for people with disabilities, how the Fleadh will reach out to other Clare towns via the Sharing Clare initiative and others.

Experts will be on hand to take questions on Traffic Management, Car-Parking, Park & Ride, Health & Safety and Medical Emergencies, Caravan & Camping and so on. If attendees have queries on Casual Trading, personnel will be on hand to answer questions on these areas also. Scoil Éigse, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Seachtain na hÉigse will also be represented and there will be details of the Fleadh lecture programme. Maureen Cleary will represent Clare Tourism and Fleadh sponsor presence will be evident.

Fleadh Chairman, Mícheál Ó Riabhaigh said he would like to extend a welcoming invitation to anyone who has an interest in the Fleadh to attend. “We want this to be an interactive experience,” he said. “I have no doubt that people will find what we have to say useful, practical and informative but equally I hope we will learn from the observations and suggestions made by the residents and business owners of Ennis.”
